In late 2017, a group of ten Hancock County livestock producers and business owners met to discuss a void in the community, created by the recent closure of the local meat locker. By early 2018, construction was underway on the east side of Carthage to build Farmhouse Meat Company, a custom slaughter and retail meat processing facility. Opening in late 2018, Farmhouse Meat Co now strives to provide quality meat products and exceptional customer service to the surrounding community and tri-state area.
